Emily-and-daughterWelcome to Container Garden Guru! I’m glad you found me, and I’m excited to share some of my gardening experiences and tips with you.

My exposure to Gardening started when I was very young. My parents were and still are passionate about growing and preserving their own food. There are pictures of me sitting on a manual push tiller while my Dad aerated the dirt in the garden. I’m sure pushing a 30 pound toddler while scraping up the dirt was not easy. I don’t remember showing a lot of interest in gardening when I was young but that lifestyle was embedded in me.

When I got my first place I started my own patio/container garden, then when my husband and I bought our first house I worked hard to break ground for a traditional garden, and now in our second home I have two small raised beds, with plans to add more next spring.

All my gardening experience has been in cold climates between Vermont and Southeast Alaska, while I haven’t been able to grow warm weather things I have always had success with at least some of what I decided to grow. Every year I plant some hardy easy vegetables and then try something to experiment with as well.

I hope to share my gardening tips with you in hopes that you will be able to start your very own small space garden. I believe everyone can grow some staple herbs or vegetables in whatever space they have.

With the knowledge to grow our own food we don’t need to rely on the grocery store as much and can gain some food independence.

I enjoy gardening and hope to help you improve your gardening experience, or begin gardening, especially if it seems intimidating. Growing our own food in whatever space we have can be very rewarding, as an added bonus, it might cut your grocery bill down som.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,
